This session provides a synopsis of the Colony-Forming Cell (CFC) assay and its use in quantifying hematopoietic progenitors in cord blood products. Included is discussion of current assay methodologies, as well as the development of a more rapid and automated CFC assay. Learning objectives include:
- Reviewing the application of the CFC assay for cord blood banking
- Examining requirements of the current CFC assay methodology
- Gaining an understanding of the technological advancements made for this assay
