Continuing Education
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this symposium, attendees
should be able to:
- Describe state of the art UCB transplant protocols and outcomes.
- Identify factors that affect UCBT outcome, including cell dose, HLA-match, processing and infusion.
- Critique the search process for cord blood units and how to make UCBT more available.
- Describe obstacles to a successful UCBT and the basic science approaches and clinical strategies to overcome them.
- Discuss current issues in cord blood banking.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This program was designed for physicians, nurses and laboratory
personnel involved or interested in cord blood transplantation.
The
CBBS is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality and the California
Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The CBBS takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity
of this CME activity. The CBBS designates this educational activity for
a number of hours to be determined of AMA PRA Category 1 credits™.
Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation
in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CNA Certification
in Continuing Medical Education.
This program is also approved by California Laboratory Field
Education. Services for continuing education. (Provider
Number 0034). The number of contact hours will be determined at a later date.
The program is approved by the California Board of Registered
Nursing, Provider Number 01351, for continuing education. The number of contact

This program is approved by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics for up to 12.75 hours or 1.9125 CEC (provider numbers: ABHI #2008-29, CA #0085; FL #50-2203).
Instructions for Obtaining Continuing Education Credit
Symposium sessions are eligible for continuing education credit by four accrediting agencies: the California
Medical Association, the Board of Registered Nursing, the California State Department of Health/Laboratory Field
Services, and the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. To receive credit, U.S. physicians,
nurses, medical technologists/clinical laboratory scientists, and histocompatibility technologists must have followed the
instructions below, as was indicated in the final program and the opening session:
- Sign-in once each day and indicate the category of credit you seek. Attendance sheets are available at the
designated CME/CE table in the foyer outside the meeting hall.
- Evaluate every speaker/session you attended. You will receive credit only for those sessions you attend and
evaluate.
- At the end of the program, complete the evaluation form: rate the overall program, record the total number of
credits you earned each day, and record your name, license number, phone number and/or email address.
This information must be legible.
- Turn-in the completed evaluation form at the registration desk before you leave.
The CBBS Central Office, in conjunction with the Continuing Education Chair, will verify the number of CME/CE
contact hours you have earned. If all the above criteria are met, your CE certificate will be mailed to you on or
before September 5, 2008. Should any of the required information be missing, you may compromise your
eligibility for continuing education credit or delay the mailing of your certificate.

at registration.
